News

APAL is seeking nominations to fill three Director vacancies on the Board of Directors representing Queensland, Tasmania and Australian Pear-growers.

Nominations are open to Class A members from Queensland, Tasmania and the pear-growing member cohort.

APAL Directors hold office for three years, after which time the position falls vacant and nominations are sought.

Existing Directors are eligible for reappointment. A retiring Director is eligible for re-election and re-appointment.

The role and responsibilities of Directors are set out in the Board Charter and include:

  • Attend all Board and appropriate Board committee meetings.  Usually there are four face-to-face Board meetings and up to six Finance, Audit and Risk and Remuneration committee meetings a year.  Meetings are generally held in Melbourne, and will be supplemented with teleconferences between meetings as necessary.
  • Attend the Annual General Meeting, and any Levy Payers Meetings.
  • Maintain networks within industry, including the APAL B Class member, in their respective States to enable them to be informed of industry issues.
  • Represent the initiatives of APAL amongst stakeholders in the state and arrange APAL grower meetings if required
  • Represent the interests of the national Australian apple and pear industry.

Nominations must be submitted by 26 August 2022.

Board appointments will be confirmed and take effect at the Annual General Meeting, 21 November 2022.
