As part of the Future Orchards program, the Orchard Business Analysis (OBA) project is currently seeking participants.

AgFirst will be collecting production and financial data from contributing orchards across Australia for the last two production years with the data being analysed and combined to produce “model orchard” data that demonstrates the average costs and returns of apple/pear production. Participating orchards will also receive a detailed report benchmarking their performance relative to other participants.

With 15 years of the OBA project having now been undertaken, this analysis will be core to:

  • Enabling orchard businesses to benchmark their performance.
  • Understanding how major events have impacted on orchard profitability.
  • Understanding changes in cost categories such as labour.
  • Gaining accurate data for orchard forecast budgets and decision making.

If you think your orchard business would be interested in participating, please contact Sarah de Bruin from AgFirst on +64 21 175 7263 or via [email protected]
