Monitor block data — regional handout (source filename indicates WA)
September 2009 | Future Orchards® 2012 | regional monitor-block data
This Future Orchards® handout records monitor-block information for regional handout (source filename indicates WA). The regional block reports were developed to give growers and advisers a consistent way to examine how individual orchard blocks were performing and to compare physical production results with financial outcomes.
The monitor-block format captures the characteristics that influence performance, including block identity and location, variety, rootstock, tree density, planting history, irrigation and establishment information. It then links those details with measures such as gross yield, Class or Grade 1 yield, packout, fruit size, labour and orchard costs, block profit and tree-growth measurements including TRV and TCA where available.
The value of the resource is in the comparison between blocks and seasons. A high-yielding block may still underperform financially if packout, fruit size, returns or costs are unfavourable, while a lower-yielding block may reveal specific constraints that can be addressed through orchard management or redevelopment. Used with later Future Orchards benchmarking tools, these regional records provide a practical foundation for evidence-based block decisions.
