APAL Awards for Excellence now open for nominations!
From today, emerging and established researchers, growers, and marketers from across Australia’s apple and pear industry can nominate – or be nominated – for APAL’s 2022 Awards for Excellence.
APAL CEO Phil Turnbull said the Awards play a key role in celebrating the exciting innovation and achievements within the industry.
“The past two years have forced our industry to adapt and innovate in so many ways. Our 2022 awards are one way we can share these amazing stories and recognise the achievements.”
“I encourage everyone involved in our industry to help us identify and celebrate the individuals who continue to drive our industry’s success through research, marketing, innovation and leadership,” said Phil.
APAL is calling for nominations across seven categories including:
- Lifetime Achievement Award
- Grower of the Year
- Young Grower of the Year
- Women in Horticulture
- Researcher and Extension Provider of the Year
- Marketer of the Year
and for the first time a new category – Emerging Marketer of the Year.

“Our new category recognises the many innovative marketing ideas that have emerged in recent years – especially online and digital initiatives’, said Phil.
