The Future Orchard experience

This paired Orchard Walk resource presents a grower-oriented account of the Future Orchards® experience in 2010. Rather than treating extension as a one-way transfer of information, the program used orchard walks, commercial block observations and discussion between growers and advisers to test what worked in practice.

The notes and slides provide historical context on how the program was being experienced on-farm during the period leading up to the 2012 productivity target. They sit alongside other June 2010 resources dealing with long-term planning, program achievements and the next stage of orchard improvement.

The material is most useful as an extension-history resource: it records how Future Orchards® combined practical observation, peer learning and adviser input to encourage growers to review existing systems and make evidence-based changes.
