June 2007 | AgFirst | Future Orchards® webinar

This Future Orchards® webinar demonstrates practical pruning of pome-fruit trees in the orchard. The video format allows growers to see how pruning rules are applied to real trees rather than only reading them as written instructions.

The demonstration focuses on tree shape, removal of dominant or poorly positioned branches and retention of useful fruiting wood. It illustrates how pruning choices affect light penetration, vigour and the future distribution of crop through the canopy.

The resource is useful for staff training because it provides a visual reference for what a finished tree should look like and helps translate pruning principles into repeatable field actions.

Used with the associated June 2007 pruning and training notes, the webinar supports a consistent approach to maximising marketable yield through canopy management.
