PIPS2 update – September 2016
September 2016 | Future Orchards® PIPS2 project update
This presentation provides an industry update from PIPS2, the Productivity, Irrigation, Pests and Soils program, bringing together research and extension activities aimed at improving orchard productivity and resilience. The update is intended to help growers understand how the program’s research streams connect with practical orchard decision-making.
The resource sits within the Future Orchards® extension program and summarises progress across the PIPS2 portfolio rather than treating productivity, water, pest management and soils as separate issues. The emphasis is on translating research outcomes into practices that can be observed, tested and adopted in commercial apple and pear orchards.
For growers and advisers, the update is useful as a snapshot of where the PIPS2 program had reached at the time and which research themes were moving toward practical application and extension.
