2012 | Future Orchards® Business Development Program | grower invitation

This invitation outlines the expansion of the Future Orchards® Business Development Program for 2012–2014. Following the earlier program launch, APAL planned to expand participation from around 300 blocks to as many as 1,200 blocks.

The program was designed for growers who wanted to work on their business as well as in it. OrchardNet provided a block-by-block online database for tracking fruit growth, production and financial information, with the ability to make confidential comparisons at regional, interstate and national level.

Participating growers were expected to enter block setup details, two years of crop history, forecast yield, key metrics such as full-bloom dates and post-thinning fruit numbers, and regular fruit-size measurements. The document shows how Future Orchards® was extending its focus from orchard technique into structured business and performance management.
