2013 | Future Orchards® trial report

This Future Orchards® trial examines the timing of the first Regalis® application, focusing on how early-season timing influences the product’s effect on apple tree shoot growth.

The trial format allows different first-application timings to be compared under commercial conditions rather than assuming a single calendar date will suit every block. Because shoot growth and canopy development are closely linked to tree vigour, light distribution and future fruiting wood, the timing question has implications beyond simple growth suppression.

The report is a practical reference for growers using prohexadione-calcium-based vigour management programs. Its value is in framing application timing as a physiological decision that should be matched to active shoot development, orchard objective and seasonal conditions.
