This New South Wales update summarises work being undertaken through the Future Orchards® Focus Orchard program. The regional model used grower-hosted orchard blocks to test practical management ideas, collect repeat measurements and share progress with the wider industry.

The document is best used as a regional progress report. It captures what advisers and growers were observing in commercial orchards, which constraints were being prioritised and how applied trial work was being used to test possible responses.

Future Orchards® Focus Orchard updates are particularly useful when read as a sequence. Individual reports show only one stage of a trial, while the wider series reveals how measurements, seasonal conditions and grower experience shaped subsequent management decisions.

For NSW growers, this update provides a reference point for the issues being actively investigated in 2020 and the practical extension process used to move from a question in the orchard to a measured demonstration.
