New miticide registered for apples and pears

The Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) approved the Label Registration of the BASF active CYFLUMETOFEN on 31 January 2022.

Commercially available as Danisaraba Miticide, the registration includes pome fruit (apples and pears) for two-spotted mite, European red mite and Bryobia mite.

This miticide is compatible in an IPM program.

Danisaraba Miticide is not systemic and does not have translaminar (surface residue) activity, therefore good coverage is important – any surface not covered isn’t toxic to the pest, including new growth.

Export market MRL advice regarding SEGURIS® Flex Fungicide from Syngenta

The following advice is provided for growers planning to use SEGURIS® Flexi on their apple and/or pear crops and wishing to export their fruit to overseas markets where MRLs / Import Tolerances (IT) may be set at levels lower than those associated with the registered use pattern in Australia.

Residue trials conducted according to the principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) have shown that

  • 3 applications of SEGURIS® Flexi (application volume <2000L) OR
  • 2 applications of SEGURIS® Flexi (application volume >2000 L/ha and ≤3000 L/ha)

with the last application made no later than 90% petal fall (BBCH 67) will result in an isopyrazam residue in fruit of <0.01 mg/kg.

Examples of export markets where this use pattern would be appropriate are:

  • Canada, China, European Union, Indonesia, New Zealand, Singapore

For apples and pears grown for sale for the Australian market, SEGURIS® Flexi can be used according to label directions.

SEGURIS® Flexi Fungicide contains 125 g/L isopyrazam as the active ingredient and is registered for the control of black spot in apples and pears, and powdery mildew in apples.
