Orchard management and production

March 2021 | Ross Wilson and Craig Hornblow, AgFirst | Future Orchards® Autumn Walk presentation

This Future Orchards® presentation considers lessons from the global pandemic and how orchard businesses can use them to improve future performance. The presentation links business resilience with orchard-system decisions, labour efficiency, objective measurement and continual improvement.

Rather than treating orchard design as a fixed choice, the material encourages growers to reassess systems against current labour availability, cost structures, market expectations and the need for repeatable high-quality production. It reinforces the value of simple, measurable production systems and good data for making redevelopment decisions.

The presentation is paired in the library with a recorded AgFirst session from the same March 2021 orchard-walk program.
