Fruit size monitoring using OrchardNet® – archived webinar
February 2012 | Presented by AgFirst | Archived Future Orchards® webinar
This archived version of the Future Orchards® OrchardNet® fruit-sizing webinar demonstrates the same core process of measuring fruit regularly through the season and comparing actual growth with expected sizing curves.
The approach allows a grower to identify whether a block is maintaining normal growth or beginning to fall behind. When a change is detected, crop load, weather, irrigation and other orchard factors can be reviewed before the problem becomes fixed at harvest.
Using a structured system such as OrchardNet® also makes it possible to compare block performance with historical and district benchmarks, improving the quality of decisions around thinning, irrigation and harvest planning.
The archived link is retained because it is part of the original Future Orchards® resource record and documents an early example of data-driven fruit-size management in the program.
