May 2013 | Presented by AgFirst | Future Orchards® webinar

A post-season crop review gives growers an opportunity to compare what was planned with what actually happened. In this Future Orchards® webinar, AgFirst focuses on reviewing orchard performance after harvest so that observations from the season can be converted into practical actions for the next crop.

A useful review brings together production, fruit quality and operational information rather than relying on impressions alone. Yield, packout, fruit size, colour, defects and harvest performance can be considered alongside crop-load decisions and the management practices used earlier in the season.

The process is particularly valuable at block level. Comparing blocks and varieties can help identify whether an issue was driven by crop load, canopy, nutrition, irrigation, thinning, harvest timing or another factor, and which areas deserve closer monitoring in the following season.

The webinar reinforces a core Future Orchards® principle: data is most useful when it changes a decision. A disciplined crop review helps orchard teams retain seasonal learning and turn it into clearer production targets and management priorities.
