Business Development Group Update – September 2018
September 2018 | Prepared by Nic Finger, AgFirst | Future Orchards® Business Development Group newsletter
The September 2018 newsletter builds on the principle of “farming by numbers”. Nic Finger outlines seasonal measurements worth recording and explains how these records can improve both current crop-load decisions and the planning of future seasons.
Chemical thinning is a major focus. Growers are encouraged to prepare a block-specific thinning plan, record spray timing and response and treat changes to the program carefully, including the use of Brevis® (metamitron) as a newer thinning option.
The issue also points growers towards irrigation management and water-budgeting resources in response to dry conditions. Together, the material reinforces the value of planned crop-load management, accurate records and measured responses rather than reactive decisions.
