New, easy-to-understand flyers from the Fresh Produce Safety Centre (FPSC) aim to help industry across the supply chain approach food safety issues and practices in the workplace.

These flyers have been produced with Freshcare, and cover:
•    Managing water
•    Managing chemicals
•    Managing people

These flyers provide a high-level overview, highlighting the appropriate actions to be undertaken to mitigate risks and ensure fresh produce is safe for consumers.

APAL’s Head of Group Quality, Innovation and Commercialisation, Andrew Mandemaker, said these flyers will help strengthen the capabilities and common understanding of food safety across industry, and prompt staff to consider their roles and actions within this.

“Food safety is a shared responsibility, and having simple, concise and easily disseminated information resources for industry is key to increasing food safety capacity along the supply chain,” Andrew said.

“By approaching these topics in an organised and systematic way, we can ensure we are aligned across all parts of industry with a shared understanding on responsibilities and best practice.

“These simple flyers provide an important introduction to these areas, and are supported by the comprehensive information in the full Guidelines for Fresh Produce Safety.”

These flyers will be shared throughout the FPSC and Freshcare networks across the supply chain, and form part of the suite of resources produced to address key areas of food safety within industry, including Food Defence and Bushfire fact sheets and the Food Safety Culture fact sheet. View all FPSC resources online here.

More flyers will be produced from topics in the Guidelines for Fresh Produce Food Safety.
