Irrigation scheduling in the Sundial Orchard – PIPS3 update
What will best practice for irrigation management look like in the orchards of the future?
One intended outcome of the PIPS3 Advancing sustainable and technology driven apple orchard production systems project (AP19003) is for the apple industry to have improved knowledge, decision support tools and management options for managing climate variability and extreme weather.
In a changing climate where growers will be faced with greater extremes in crop water requirements and seasons where water is limited, precision irrigation management will become vital to the success of orchards.
In this video, Dr Ian Goodwin discusses some of the irrigation scheduling technology that is being used in the Sundial Orchard at the AgVic Tatura SmartFarm.
