Around 100 people visited the Summer Snow juicing plant in January where the Russo family demonstrated their new juice press.
A number of significant upgrades have been made over the last few years to the Summer Snow juicing plant, including their new press that was installed last year that allows them to press 8,000 litres an hour and typically 35,000 litres a day.
Most of their 100 per cent Australian product is sold to other manufacturers, but they retain their own Summer Snow brand, which they bottle and label on site.
Summer Snow produces single variety juices across the range of all the main apples including Granny Smith, Fuji, Royal Gala and Pink Lady™, plus they do a range of mixed juices – mostly with apple as the base – and have pressed pineapples, strawberries, pears and cherries. About 40 per cent of their juice goes to cider production.
In his presentation to the growers, suppliers and buyers present at the event Nick Russo, Business Development Manager, talked about their “honest, loyal and transparent” approach to business that they are committed to.
“We want to thank all our growers, suppliers and customers for their wonderful support in helping us to get to this point,” said Bernadette Russo, General Manager, Summer Snow. “And to let them know that we look forward to working with them in the future.”
During the event Summer Snow Director Joe Russo suggested growers consider keeping an older block of apples in so that it could be retained purely for juice.
