Following the 2019 Post-harvest seminar, APAL is hosting a one-day tour of the Southern Victoria apple growing region, Gippsland on Thursday, 17 January 2019. Participants will travel on a bus guided by APAL Technical Manager Angus Crawford and Horticultural Adviser Marcel Veens visiting state-of-the-art packing facilities, owners and managers of some of the most progressive apple orchards in Australia.
The tour is an opportunity for orchard and pack shed managers, employees and other industry members to see, learn and experience the next wave of orcharding. In particular, interstate guests for the Post-harvest seminar are encouraged to take the opportunity to attend. Topics and areas of focus will include mechanisation, new varieties, integrated pest management, spraying systems, the internet of things (IOT), 2D orchard systems and robotic harvesting.
