Southern Victoria Future Orchards® walk postponed

Notice to growers regarding Future Orchards® walk tomorrow

Over the weekend, you will have seen reports in the media regarding bushfires in the Bunyip State Park area, not far from our planned Future Orchards® walk venue tomorrow. Thankfully, our host Brad Fankhauser has confirmed that he and the property are safe and secure. However, as of 11am today, the CFA have strongly advised that travel in the area should be avoided due to spotfires and other potential hazards. On that basis, we have decided not to go ahead with the Future Orchards® walk tomorrow, Tuesday 5 March.

APAL are investigating if the Southern Loop walk can be rescheduled and will advise in coming days if an alternate date can be set.

In the meantime, please be reminded that the Northern Loop Future Orchards® walk will take place on 1 April 2019 in the Goulburn Valley.  If you would like more information on the Northern Loop walk or to register, please contact APAL Program Manager Larissa Vaughan on lvaughan@apal.org.au

For those attendees who were especially keen to see Brad’s new Zucal Machinery harvesting platform in action, Brad has said that he welcomes you to privately visit the property when conditions are more favourable. The Italian manufacturers will be on-site for the remainder of the week. Any arrangements to visit should be made directly with Brad Fankhauser on 0409 678 601.Thank you for your understanding. We hope all growers and their orchards remain safe this season.
