Pear growers invited on Asia export study tour

Pears on display in Asia

Pear exporters interested in accessing markets in Asia are invited on a pear export study tour.

APAL invites pear growers and exporters on a pear export study tour to Jakarta and Singapore in April 2014. This is a great opportunity for Australian pear growers to visit two key cities in South East Asia to get a better understanding of current market dynamics and opportunities.

Participants will see Australian pears on promotion in key supermarkets and build relationships with importers and retail buyers. The program will also include participation in the bi-annual Food and Hotel Asia trade show in Singapore. This impressive food show attracts buyers from across the region. Participants can meet with produce buyers and let them sample their fruit on the Australia Fresh horticulture stand.

South East Asia represents a fantastic opportunity for Australian pear exporters. It is a great time to refocus our efforts on this region and make the most of a lower exchange rate and a bumper pear crop.

Participants will need to cover the cost of their airfares and travel insurance, and APAL will cover all accommodation (4 nights), on-ground transport and most meals.
