Variable rate spreading in orchards – Outcomes to date

Member Events

As part of AgriFutures Australia’s Producer Technology Uptake Program, APAL is leading a project investigating the costs and benefits of variable rate spreading in the orchard. Through this new grant, a Red Ant dual product variable rate spreader has been trialled in two Goulburn Valley orchards during the 2023/24 season. With fertiliser spreading now complete, join us on 10 April at Lenne’s Orchard in Ardmona to discuss progress, challenges, costs and benefits of the technology.

Through this new grant, a Red Ant dual product variable rate spreader has been be trialled in two Goulburn Valley orchards during the 2023/24 season to demonstrate the technology which allows for two separate products to be spread variably in a single pass to address variability within blocks through targeted fertiliser placement.

With fertiliser spreading now complete, join us to discuss progress, challenges, costs and benefits of the technology as well as discussing orchard variability and how technologies like this can assist.

This field walk will be hosted at Lenne’s Orchard.
