Participants at Melbourne’s Run for the Kids will receive Victorian grown, Royal Gala apples as they cross the finish line on Sunday, 20 March, they will also be able to meet Crunch, the Aussie Apples mascot!
Hort Innovation has again signed as a Principal Sponsor of Run for the Kids, Melbourne to help promote Aussie Apples.
As they cross the finish line, participants will receive a Royal Gala apple, grown in the Yarra Valley and Gippsland regions and supplied by Nine Mile Fresh. Fourteen bins of apples will border the finish line and participants will be congratulated by Crunch and myself – there may even be a photo opportunity!
Any growers or industry members participating in the event can send through their registration details and address to receive an Aussie Apples shirt to wear during the fun run. The first seven participants to cross the finish line wearing their Aussie Apples top will receive a ticket to the Corporate Hospitality tent, where they can sit back, relax and enjoy a refreshing breakfast.
Now in it’s tenth year, Run for the Kids attracts over 30,000 runners annually, who participate in the 16km (7:30am start time) and 5km (8:30am start time) fun run. The event is the single biggest fundraising contributor for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal and to date, has raised over $12.4 million dollars for the appeal.
The Royal Children’s Hospital improves the health and wellbeing of children and adolescents through leadership in healthcare, research and education. Nearly all families come into direct contact with the work of the hospital at some stage, either through the care of their own children or through friends or family.
